Dr. Norman Magnuson returned to Oregon and began his first dental practice, Norman D. Magnuson, DDS, in 1982. Magnuson’s son Dr. Ryan Magnuson joined him, and together they offer general, family, and cosmetic dentistry in two cities. The second-generation dentistry that became Magnuson Dental in 2000 is known for its comprehensive treatment planning and exceptional service.
The original location in Eugene continues to serve and offer services to their long-established clients. The new practice in Harrisburg was established in 2019, and growth continues as new patients are accepted from the area and surrounding communities.
Magnuson Dental always has and will continue to be a family business in the state of Oregon. Dr. Norman Magnuson’s wife, Debby, has served as the office manager for many years. All their children have worked in the offices at some point during the growth of the family practice. Magnuson Dental, a proud father and son dentistry, will accommodate the general, family, and cosmetic needs of all patients.

What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is placed into the bone in the area(s) missing teeth. The screw replaces the root of a natural tooth. The titanium screw over time will fuse to the bone, becoming a very stable platform for the replacement crown. Dental implants can be placed in the upper or lower jaws and replace single or multiple areas of missing teeth.

A dental implant can often be the best treatment for missing teeth. Dental implants do not require other natural teeth to be stable. A dental implant appears precisely like a natural tooth. Dental implants are stable and secure when chewing. Best of all, no adjacent teeth are altered for a dental implant. Teeth help to stimulate bone and reduce the recession of bone or tissue.
Dental implants replace the natural tooth root and can aid in bone stimulation, reducing the chance of bone recession. Loose or “wiggly” teeth can sometimes be detrimental to the surrounding bone causing loss of the bone. Dental implants can be an ideal replacement for loose teeth and provide a stable bite.

Is getting a dental implant worth it?

Do I really need a dental implant?
In some circumstances, a dental implant isn’t necessary. When you visit us for your complimentary consultation we will provide you with an accurate, honest diagnosis. If you don’t actually need an implant placed we won’t try and push you into getting one.
How long does a dental implant last?
Nothing lasts forever, but for most patients 45 years or older a dental implant will last for life. The implant itself won’t typically need replacement but the crown or cap placed on the appliance may need restoration or replacement every 10-15 years.
Will I lose anything by coming in for the free consultation?
Of course not. The consultation is completely free of charge. We are limited in how many consultations we can schedule during any given period, so make sure to schedule yours as soon as possible. You’ve got nothing to lose.
Will my insurance cover dental implants?
Our wonderful staff will work with you to see if your insurance company will cover the dental implant procedure. If for any reason it’s not covered, we will let you know and will work with you to develop a financial plan if needed. Our patients often tell us that it’s completely worth the investment of their time and money to permanently replace their missing teeth with dental implants.
